Dear Friends of Christ and Friends of Mine,
Lifest with the Boys & Girls Club is just a few days away now! We appreciate prayers! Also, if you have a minute to write on the wall words of encouragement next week, we would all appreciate that too! You can see our page at 3 Days. 50 Teens. 1 Life Changing Experience.
First, a word of thanks for the Captain of this event. I may be the great communicator but without Scott Haumersen's attention to detail and vision, none of this would have happened. I thank Jesus for His heart for serving and how beautifully God has equipped him to do this work. It has been a pleasure to serve alongside him. He communicated well and often with all of us. He thought through everything. Spreadsheets, meetings, phone calls, follow-ups and emails - he was on top of it.
I am also very thankful for Michael Johnson, the CEO of the Boys & Girls Club. He too went above and beyond as he worked with the churches and his team to bring these kids north. He took on a whole new venture when he could have easily said no. The man is busy. Without His passion and love of Christ, this never would have happened.
Gentlemen - I look forward to serving again with you. If I were ever in a fox hole, I would want you both by my side.
With that - please pray for us:
A picture of the kids is below. These aren't just any children - they were chosen by God to be at Lifest. Pray for their hearts to be open.
Please pray for all of us on the leadership team for this event. Although we're all capable, the sun will be beating down on us, the work will be hard and tensions could run high. Please pray that we just see the best in one another and that we will not allow anything to come between us and our sweet fellowship.
Pray that other sponsors will be encouraged to step forward and commit for 2012 so we can bring more children. The Boys & Girls Club has told us that more wanted to come once word got out. We just made our fundraising goal on Friday so we'll need others to come alongside us. The Boys & Girls Club serves thousands of children throughout the year.
Lastly, please lift each of our individual families and work lives up to Him. For example, one of the people on my team is now heading to D.C. for a Tweet up at the White House while I'm at Lifest. This wasn't planned but it is a good thing for her and my company. However, I really want to be able to focus on my family, friends and these kids at Lifest. Liesel being in D.C. now brings us down a man at Creative Company which means that I may be called in to more things happening at the office. Please pray that for all of us, the people on the home front will keep those fires burning so we can really be at the festival with our whole hearts and minds.
I recently picked up a book by a brilliant secular communication expert and pollster. Dr. Frank Lutz has compiled a list of what differentiates genuine winners from everyone else who is following. The number one thing on his list is the ability to grasp the human dimension of every situation. May our hearts be tender towards each other and every person we come in touch with this next week. May we be able to hear what isn't being said, see what others don't want us to see, heal hurts and hearts and may the Holy Spirit surround us all. May victory in Christ Jesus be ours.
Now then - let's party with a purpose! See YOU at Lifest and thank you for being part of this great story!
