Friends in Christ,
Laura I am reminded and encouraged by your story of faithfulness.
I thought I would share a story of God's Holy Spirit, that uses his people for others needs.
It was about this time last year I was driving down Odana Way when I saw a homeless man.
Continuing on I drove by him heading down Odana, going about my business.
Something just kept speaking to me about this man.
As I continued on I stopped to get a coffee at Starbucks west side. While standing in line, a long line I became very peaceful. Most times I stop for coffee I'm in a hurry, not slowing down, not always patient or humble. Then in a moment as I was standing in line - I thought about the homeless man in the cold. So I thought I would get a coffee for me and one for him too. As the woman asked for my order, I for some unknown reason said, I'll have two hot chocolates. There I was, two hot chocolates in hand headed to my car and on my way back down Odana to find this man.
As I drove I saw him, there he was standing in the cold with many layers of clothing trying to stay warm.
I parked the car, got out and walked across the street towards him. I thought why on earth did I get hot chocolate versus coffee. I approached him holding out the cup to him and said, hello sir would you like something warm? I was so nervous, because it was not coffee - what I always would get or what I thought he would want. So I said to the man - would a hot chocolate be okay? Then he took a half step back with tears filling his eyes and said that would be wonderful, thank you so much. I said to him, I'm sorry it's not coffee and he said as he held the cup in his hands, this is great, because coffee really upsets my stomach -I can't drink coffee. He said to me you are a blessing sir.
Then I saw the full blessing of the Holy Spirit, for God had blessed us both.
I will never forget that day with " Hot Chocolate Man"
All to God's glory,
AMEN
